Muslim Students Association
About
The Muslim Student Association is an organization for Muslim and non Muslim students alike at Southern Connecticut State University. The MSA is a diverse group comprised of students with a myriad of perspectives and experiences -- as such, it serves the needs of its members by foregrounding the intersection of our diverse backgrounds. Through weekly meetings and campus wide events alike, the MSA is dedicated to maintaining the culture, heritage, and practices unique to Muslims; through all the ways that we can, we celebrate the unique space we occupy on campus. This organization simultaneously functions as a means by which Muslim students maintain, and ultimately increase, their faith within a college environment, as well as a venue from which non-Muslims on campus may learn about Islam. The purpose of the MSA at SCSU is to provide an environment for the sustenance of our Muslim community on campus whilst fostering substantive connections between Muslims and non-Muslims through education, dialogue and interaction. Through exploring the tenants of our faith, the philosophical questions that accompany our existence, and the political context within which our identities are situated, the MSA provides a nuanced voice for its membership. We are, and will always remain, committed to the work of social justice.
